999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors:-
You are Junpei, and you are abducted! And now when you wake up, you find yourself in a cabin of an ocean liner, no sooner you start to figure out the mess, the water starts to rush in through a porthole. There is a number ‘5’ written in red on the door which has something to do with being alive at this state of doom, a mysterious person called ‘Zero’ who abducted you has crafted a puzzle for you to solve, and to make an escape with that. He is trying you obviously.
Later if you succeed to survive there are 8 other people with you in that ship that are brought in (abducted) for a very creepy and mysterious reason, find out the secret, is what this game is about.
Aaaand hold your horses, before you run away to find this awesomeness, you must know that this is not your regular adventure mystery puzzle ‘game’ but an adventure mystery puzzle digital novel!
Gaming Novels are one of the dominant game forms from Japan. Wherein you see a picture on the screen, read the descriptions on the side then make choices or push or click stuffs when the options are handed to you.
The game advances based upon the choices you, the player, make. And it has enormous possibilities for alternate endings, because every choice you’ll make will impact the end, so it takes a few tries to get to the real ending to know the secret.
The puzzles in the game are very complex and require more brain activity than usual but this all adds to the mystery of the scene and the story itself.
So if you are a dude or dame who likes his/her game well knitted, well crafted, tight and very demanding and also very rewarding in the satisfaction section as though you are now ready to be a professional detective then please by all means go get this.
Developed by Chunsoft and published by Aksys Games for the Nintendo DS platform the visual novel game was released on 16th November 2010 in USA and on 10th December 2009 in Japan.
The story of the game, the 9 characters and the mysterious atmosphere are impressive experiences mixed together that one should go with at least five times.
