Grey Goo is a classical real-time strategy game with a focus on base-building and tactics. The game can be compared to the games of the Command & Conquer or Supreme Commander series.
Grey Goo is a science-fiction game and has three different factions to play. The factions in Grey Goo are:
Each faction is played very differently. The Beta have fled from their old home planet to a planet called Ecosystem 09, where Grey Goo takes place. They have a good mobility and can easily build new outposts by constructing a power hub and connecting further structures to the power hub. The faction of Humans are investigating a signal the received from the Ecosystem 09 planet and a conflict between Beta and Humans starts. The Humans are not as mobile as the Beta faction. They have to construct conduits to distribute power, so that all their buildings are connected with each other. The Goo has been created by Humans as a utility to explore the universe, but they have evolved and now want to consume everything they find. The Goo are played very different compared to typical factions of other RTS games and also compared to the Beta or Humans. Units of the Goo are clumped together into a big Mother Goo and can split into different units when needed.
The single-player campaign of Grey Goo leads you through the arising conflict on the Ecosystem 09 planet. During the campaign, the player has to complete missions for each of the three factions. Grey Goo also has a multi-player mode and skirmish mode for up to four players.
