The game!
Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic (KOTOR), the one game that simultaneously turned us all into the biggest jerk and also the greatest hope for an imaginary universe much cooler than our mysterious boring one, Beh!
Star Wars KOTOR is one of the most influential games of all time and it is one of those gems that every gamer should have, in his/her safe, of the Sweden black vaults, in underground chambers, with hundreds of years of frozen food, gaming consoles and a personal Jeff Goldblum clone in case of apocalypse, which is long due to us.
The game is set 4,000 years before the emergence of the Galactic Empire, Malak, a former Jedi (good guys of the universe) is now a dark lord of Sith (there’s a dark in his description, so, whaddya think?) and has launched a great huge ass armada of Siths against the Republic.
So, blaby blah blah, go save the universe!
The gameplay!
Star Wars KOTOR is the best or maybe one of the best Sci Fi RPG games available to us mere humans, and like any other great RPG (not lot) it focuses heavily on your character’s development by the story, events and you!
You start by choosing how will be your main character look like, male or female and that’s the basic difference point in the choosing here.
Then off to the republic ship as the new guy, get ambushed and attacked, have a friend sacrificed and vow revenge and there you go, we are all set, that is something how we all started our schools so, it is totally relatable.
But the greatest thing about KOTOR is how it is, the story, the world and the conflict is presented through your main guy/girl, your team partners have a very specific characterization of their own, they are not just some dudes babbling whatever or dames looking eye candies, no they are much more than that, they are your friends and comrade, each one with their own lives and hopes and failures.
And so are the NPCs even! If you talk to them they won’t just look like the hand on first time experiment of some noob developer they will be genuine folks, telling many important things one way or another to you, maybe important for some side mission or maybe for the main story!
Team mates talk in between your conversation as if they are there, not as some computer generated fillers, but like really your mates.
And the big thing is that eventually you will have you choose a side, the good one or the bad one, and when you will choose the bad one (gotta do it, don’t we?), you will experience LOSS!
It will hunt you everytime you are alone with your sentiments.
Anyways overall, the battle system is pretty good, kinda like FF XII but the way it is built it seems like real time battle instead of actually being a time based battle.
The whole game is an experience that not many things, game or whatever, can do so aptly!
The company!
Developed by BioWare and Aspyr (for iOS, OS X and Android) and published by Lucas Arts for Xbox, PC, Mac OS X, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android. It was initially released in July 2003.
The appeal!
If you want to be a part of a mega saga for the battle of the universe, true Star Wars style while also experiencing the true RPG gaming or heck, even just plain gaming at its best, giving you moments after moments and feels after feels and funs after funs…
Then buy two potatoes, throw it over your left shoulders to appease the gods of electricity for an uninterrupted power supply as long as you are on with the title, Star Wars : KOTOR!
