The game!
The Darkness, a game that is truly remarkable as in the sense of that it lets you have a sneak peak at the demon spirit inside of you, and lets you have some fun with it too!
Our demon spirit turned out to be some sort of Meowth and Ratata crossbreed, it kept asking ‘kill me!’ and so we did, we killed our dark side and now we are all ready to start our own religion, back off Scientology, here comes Gamerology, Oh Yeah!
Anyways, so the thing is that The Darkness is a truly dark and action oriented game based upon the equally awesome comic books created by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis and David Wohl.
The story revolves around an Italian gangster named Jackie Estacado who also narrates his story in the game, he is targeted for assassination by a big shot New York Mafia boss, so in an attempt to save his life he takes shelter in a cemetery’s bathroom.
Because those kinds of places are in the top 3 hiding places for anyone to ditch the mafia after them, right after a burning cathedral and bottom of the river.
Anyway, so while in there, an ancient dark force called the Darkness awakens inside of him, which has been haunting his family as a curse from generations.
In the effects of the Darkness Jackie outright slaughters every pesky son of a bitch out there after him and then begins the story of The Darkness, The Curse of Jackie Estacado and his eternal misery.
The game is dark and brutal at times for the player character but the good thing is that it lest the player character to be even more dark and brutal in return.
The gameplay!
The game, The Darkness is a first person shooter, action adventure game with some RPG elements into it as well!
There are many ranges of modern weapon available in the game along with uber cool powers of Darkness, that include tentacles of Darkness that don’t care if its people against it or trucks or whatever and it just hurls them away into dust.
Then there are four imp like creatures that you can summon to slaughter your enemies for you while you smoke Cigar or something.
Also you can create black holes (!), yes, small black holes that can suck those suckers right in and tear them effin’ apart!
And then there is also The Guns of Darkness, slightly more powerful than the regular guns and by slightly we meant a great lot!
You play the game in FPV and rout along the enemies, but even with so much power you still have to be on your guards as the powers only work in darkness, that is the catch and when you are in lit areas then you either create darkness or live long enough to be thrown into it!
It’s a fast paced action game with awesome gore and supernatural moves that wets all our fantasy dreams!
The company!
Developed by Starbreeze Studios, published by 2K Games and distributed by Take Two Interactive for X360 and PS3. It was released in June 2007.
The appeal!
It’s a very fun action game with supernatural instead of shotguns and rocket launchers, that is all you have to know about it and if you don’t try it then you are missing on an experience!
And also the game has some full on movies like ‘To kill a Mocking Bird’, ‘The man with golden Arm’, a full episode of Flash Gordon, The Sonny Chiba Street Fighter Movie and the cartoon shorts of Gabby and Popeye, wow that’s like something really good on top of something good in the first place, we are out of analogies, yeah!
The Game!
The Italian American protagonist of the notorious but legendary title, The Darkness returns in The Darkness II, an FPS game with role playing elements based on the comics of the same name.
The Darkness series is one of those games which take you into their own world, doesn’t matter if that world is mad of full crazy carnage or brutal gangster system, it’s a world and it takes you into it.
The story follows around Jackie Estacado, now himself the don of the Franchetti family but still with the power of Darkness inside of him, dormant though.
This time a secret organization called, The Brotherhood who was watching over Jackie for years is in action to retrieve the power of Darkness to be used in their own personal agenda.
Many secrets get revealed, many mad haps happen and if won through every challenge, then many new changes take place as well.
The Gameplay!
The game is presented in first person mode, the Creeping Dark tendrils from the first part are now usable simultaneously along with the dual firearms, in the Quad Wielding in this game’s mechanics.
Use the weapons of our world and the other world as well, use the Darkness’ power the unholy tendrils that brutally destroy your enemies as you are busy shooting some others, snap out doors, glasses and object of the heavy kind and throw them straight for a brutal mutilation.
Consider yourself Doctor Octopus from The Spider Man story, only otherworldly evil and inhumane.
But beware that the powers of the Darkness work only in…yes in the dark, so there in the game you might have to create opportunities to use your own powers, so be on your toes all the time regardless of the supernatural powers.
The Company!
Developed by Digital Extremes and published by 2K Games, for the PC, PS3, X360,OS X and OnLive. It was initially released in February 2012.
The Appeal!
