The Witch’s House is a horror game, yes no survival horror and no any other this and that adjoin the word ‘horror’ and since that is the case with this title’s description, you can obviously assume its from Japan, where all horrors are considered one and equally looked upon without any discrimination!
Ah Japan, the things you try to sneak in our pop culture, had it not been for the international laws against Mass Hysteria Control and containment, you would be all over our dreams and lives.
And by dreams we meant nightmares and by lives we meant whatever the planet will be like then!
Anyways so you are this young girl that has to be the ballsiest game protagonist we have ever seen, so she gets up in this forest and gets her way barricaded by roses, by some goddamn love representation flowers!
They guide her to a very creepy and abandoned manor like house which belongs to a witch!
Okay, so the house is a bloody shape shifting asshole and tries to play with your psyche, because all paranormal are bound to do that when in need of salvation instead of asking for help or something!
Anyways then things get dark…
The gameplay is based around exploration, creepish atmosphere and some really terrorizing and surreal and absurdly horrific jump scares, holy balony of mahone, WTF Japan!?!!
The game is a horror game, where you are tasked to live and escape the witch’s house by exploring and figuring out the clues and solving creepy, very creepy like puzzles.
Puzzles that either reflect weird human depression and hopelessness or something that we don’t know anything about, that are clearly unresolved within the game’s creators’ heads.
Maybe it’s all just the scare to make the game look awesomely horrific or maybe its Japan being Japan!
So explore, solve and try to escape the random madness of the Japan’s most mild deranged jump scares.
There is also a black talking cat, because why not? Which also serves as a companion to you, again because why not? And also works as save points, we give up here, let’s move on with game’s other aspects!
There are two game endings, one good and one bad and let’s just leave this part here.
All in all if it is horror you wanted, then boys and girls be careful what you bloody wish for!
Developed and published by Fummy on RPG Maker VX game software for Windows and Mac, it was initially released in October 2012.
The game is made into 16 Bit design and yet, and yet it scares the shit out of you.
