Ziggurat is a first person view, dungeon crawler game that sets you, the player in the smelly and old shoes of a young apprentice of sorcery who has to go through his magic mastery by being hauled inside a dungeon full of otherworldly horrors to either overcome them like Magic Rambo or become a part of their army.
WOW, some schooling that is, but still better than ours.
So you select a random and only available wizard who’s ok in every field and set out with a magic wand to bring it to an end, either yours or this mission.
The game is very old school like, kind of reminiscent to Doom and Serious Sam, but you know as they say ‘There ain’t no school like Old School, Bub!’
And Ziggurat, along with its pros and cons, is still a very enjoyable game.
The gameplay is mainly based on combat, wizard combat, you have a magic wand in your hand and it blasts sparks of attacks at your enemies but soon it will not be enough with the bigger bosses and traps and puzzles to just wave your wand at.
So along the course of the game you master other magical skills and weapons and try to rule over the game they created against you.
The game’s enemy encounters and dungeon spawning is based on procedural generation. Meaning that there are no pre defined set of pattern to any room or any enemy encounter, meaning everytime you play it, you will have a different game experience each time!
The game has roguelike elements in the game, one of which is the permanent death of your character once game is over, so you might have to start again, but that’s okay because as we said no two game plays will have the same experience.
Also, the game is based on cartoon like fantasy environment, kinda like Warcraft but it is highly attractive and really makes you marvel at its rich atmosphere.
Like with every good fantasy game, there are so many things and stuffs to unlock and get that you will come again and again to seek out its many, many attractions.
Developed and published by Milkstone Studios for Linux, PC, OS X, PS4 and XOne. It was initially released in October 2014.
The main appeal of this game lies in its almost endless replay ability, since there are encounters and rooms and parts of the game that are generated at random, you will have a very different experience everytime you are in here.
The game is fantasy based and its way smooth to zig zag around in a magic dungeon looking for magic and myths.
